Walker couldn’t stand out in crowded field, experts say

Although Gov. Scott Walker looked like a top-tier presidential candidate on paper, he was unable to stand out in the crowded Republican field and struggled in televised debates, according to local politicos.

“I didn’t expect him to drop out this early,” said Jerald Mast, associate professor of political science at Carthage College. “The drop in polling support he was getting in the spring to the latest CNN poll, where he got less than a percentage point, seems pretty quick.”
