KUSD must allow transgender boy to use boys restrooms, effective immediately
MILWAUKEE — Ash Whitaker can legally use the boys bathrooms at Tremper High School — at least for now.
On Tuesday, a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction blocking the Kenosha Unified School District from barring the transgender teen’s use of boys bathrooms. The 17-year-old senior was born female but now identifies as male.
“For the first time this year, I feel like I can actually make it through my senior year of high school just like any other boy in my class,” said Whitaker in a statement sent to the Kenosha News. “It’s awful going to school every day with the constant stress and stigma from being segregated from my peers and from administrators watching my every move just because of who I am.”
